Project Description

The City of Dublin is continuing its work to evaluate the future of Bridge Street as a more connected, walkable and multimodal corridor.

The West Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update focuses on the segment of West Bridge Street between Frantz Road and the Scioto River. This effort builds on the East Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update, which evaluated the corridor between Riverside Drive and Sawmill Road, and will help create a cohesive vision for the full length of Bridge Street.

The project will evaluate pedestrian connectivity, crosswalk safety, streetscape improvements, future street connections, transit opportunities and how the corridor can better support infill development, redevelopment and placemaking over time.

Project Background

Bridge Street is one of Dublin’s defining east-west corridors. Over time, the corridor has evolved as development patterns, transportation needs and community priorities have changed.

Historically, Bridge Street was designed to support suburban, automobile-oriented development. While sidewalks and shared-use paths exist in portions of the corridor, the roadway still includes wide travel lanes, long blocks and large building setbacks in some areas. These conditions do not fully reflect the goals of the Bridge Street District or the community vision established in Envision Dublin.

In 2025, the City completed the East Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update, which focused on the segment between Riverside Drive and Sawmill Road. That work explored how the corridor can better support walking, biking, transit, redevelopment and a more urban street network. It also considered future LinkUS Bus Rapid Transit, micromobility, improved crossings and long-term multimodal street concepts.

As a follow-up, the City is now studying West Bridge Street to ensure both sides of the corridor are evaluated as part of a connected system. The West Bridge Street Visioning Update will help guide future transportation, development and investment decisions along the corridor.

Project Focus Area

The West Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update focuses on West Bridge Street between Frantz Road and the Scioto River.

This study will help identify opportunities to:

  • Improve pedestrian connectivity along and across the corridor
  • Evaluate intersection treatments and crosswalk safety
  • Study the potential role of on-street parking
  • Recommend streetscape and public realm improvements
  • Evaluate the feasibility of future Bus Rapid Transit on West Bridge Street
  • Support future street connections, infill development and redevelopment
  • Create a seamless transition between the East and West Bridge Street corridor segments

Walkable Dublin Community Conversation

As part of this work, the City hosted a “Walkable Dublin” community conversation with Jeff Speck of Speck Dempsey, an internationally recognized planning firm specializing in walkable urban communities.

The conversation focused on the principles of creating walkable, mixed-use environments and how those ideas can help inform the future of the Bridge Street corridor. This discussion supports broader community conversations about land use, mobility, placemaking and how Dublin can continue advancing safe, connected and people-focused places.

Project Schedule

  • April 2026
Walkable Dublin community conversation with Jeff Speck, along with corridor discussions, review of streetscape concepts and opportunities to evaluate walkability, trail alignment and crossing locations.
  • June 2026
Review Council feedback on the East Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update and discuss preliminary observations related to West Bridge Street to help guide recommendations.
  • August 2026
Final recommendations for the West Bridge Street Corridor Visioning Update to City Council, including a summary of the corridor visioning work, recap the East Bridge Street effort and outline implementation strategies for West Bridge Street.

What Happens Next

The City and consultant team will continue refining concepts, coordinating with related transportation, streetscape and trail planning efforts and preparing final recommendations for City Council consideration.

The final corridor visioning work is intended to support Dublin’s long-term goals for safety, multimodal mobility, redevelopment, walkability and placemaking along Bridge Street.
